Meaningful, inspired
design solutions for all.

Good design is easy to promise and hard to deliver. We bring institutional-level rigor, technical precision, and design care to every project — a private residence, a neighborhood park, a civic building — regardless of scale or budget. That rigor doesn’t change with the client, the community, or the scale. Serious design shouldn’t be reserved for the few — it should hold up everywhere.

Services

Spaces shaped around people, purpose, and place.
We design buildings, interiors, renovations, additions, and spatial experiences that support how people live, work, gather, and move. Our architectural work balances clarity, beauty, technical coordination, and long-term use. From early feasibility studies through construction administration, we stay close to the project at every phase, so the design intent that starts on paper is still legible in the finished space.

Feasibility Studies & Existing Conditions Assessments
Space Planning & Programming
Interior Architecture
Landscape Architecture
Construction Administration
Technical care that makes spaces safer, stronger, and more enduring.
We coordinate the systems that allow design to perform. MEP, structure, and civil are integrated early, in the same office and on the same drawings as the architecture, rather than handed off between separate firms after the fact. That coordination is what keeps a building's mechanical, structural, and site systems working together instead of working around each other once construction begins.

MEP Engineering
Structural Engineering
Civil Engineering
Government-caliber guidance for projects of every scale.
We help projects move through review, permitting, and agency coordination with clarity. Whether the project is public or private, we bring discipline to the approval process so design intent can move forward. We track requirements across the agencies a project touches and manage submissions and responses directly, so approvals move on schedule instead of stalling on paperwork the design team could have anticipated.
Selected capabilities
Building Permits
Stormwater, Utility & Tree Permits
Department of Transportation Permits
Permit Expediting

From first intention to final detail, we guide ideas into elegant, enduring places shaped for people and built with discipline.

The Harbor Bank of Maryland

Headquarters Renovation

Baltimore, MDConsulting Architect (design + documentation)Commercial20255,000 SF

A 5,000 SF renovation of The Harbor Bank of Maryland’s Baltimore headquarters, establishing a brand and spatial standard to guide the institution’s future branch renovations. Duro developed and documented the design and produced the project renderings — opening the floor plate for natural light and transparency, introducing flexible meeting space and integrated technology, and carrying the bank’s identity through material and environmental graphics.

About

How intention becomes built reality.
At Duro Design Group, how we translate intention into built reality shapes everything we do. We believe good design begins long before a drawing is produced — through listening, observation, and the discipline to understand what a project is asking from every side: the client, the end user, the community, the site, the budget, the agencies, and the people who will live with the outcome. Our practice is rooted in presence, clarity, and care.
We see design as both a creative and civic act. Whether we are shaping a home, a cultural place, a workplace, a public park, or a civic environment, our work is measured by how well it serves people. Context, code, systems, accessibility, durability, and craft are not obstacles to beauty; they are the conditions through which meaningful design becomes real.
Duro was founded to bring institutional-level design care back to everyday life. The discipline often reserved for public work — clear communication, technical precision, agency fluency, documentation, and accountability — belongs in homes, small businesses, cultural spaces, civic projects, and the public realm. We pair architectural imagination with engineering discipline and collaborative delivery so clients of all kinds can access serious design without losing warmth, humanity, or trust.
Institutional-level care for public and civic work.
Public work carries a responsibility beyond the object itself. It must serve communities, respect public resources, move through agency review, meet technical standards, and remain useful long after construction is complete. We approach public-sector work with the clarity, coordination, and care required when design becomes part of the public realm — understanding that these projects are shaped by many voices: clients, agencies, consultants, contractors, end users, and the communities who will live with the outcome.
Public-sector design is rarely shaped by a single need. It is shaped by existing buildings, accessibility, code, budget, procurement, maintenance, schedule, public expectation, and long-term civic use. We bring those realities into focus early, helping teams clarify what matters, align priorities, and establish a path that can move from intention to execution without losing sight of purpose. Our role is not only to produce drawings, but to steward the intent behind them.
A small, hands-on team of architects and engineers.
